This is an easy way to restore a WhatsApp account that was hijacked by someone else
Information is now a very valuable part for us to protect, but lost access to the WhatsApp instant messaging application account which is the main communication channel for many people, will really disrupt our activities. See how to restore your hacked contacts.
WhatsApp users may lose access to their accounts because they are hijacked by someone else. For example, victims of social engineering crimes or activists who are too critical.
If you are a victim of piracy like this, the first thing you should do is inform your family, friends and relatives that your account may have been hijacked by someone else.
This way, they will not become victims of other crimes that the pirate might commit, such as fraud to transfer funds.
WhatsApp says its application stores messages on the device, so hijackers cannot read the message history even if they have taken over the account and accessed it on another device.
“WhatsApp is end-to-end encrypted and messages are stored on your device, so someone accessing your account on another device can’t read your previous conversations,” WhatsApp wrote on its website.
Here’s a practical way to take over a hijacked account:
1. Sign in to WhatsApp by entering your cellphone number
2. Enter the verification code sent via SMS
3. Once verification is done, the hijacker will lose access to your account automatically.

After successful verification, you may also be asked to provide a two-step verification code. If you don’t know this code, then the person using your account may have two-step verification enabled.
You need to wait 7 days before you can log in without a two-step verification code. Regardless of whether you know this verification code or not, someone else who hijacked your account will be logged out of it after you enter the 6-digit SMS verification code.
Furthermore, if you suspect someone is using your account via WhatsApp Web/Desktop, it is highly recommended to log out from all computers in the settings on your phone.
Additional Security
WhatsApp provides several tips to avoid account theft. First, never share the 6-digit verification code received via SMS with anyone.
Then, it is highly recommended to perform two-step verification. This additional security feature can be activated in the Settings>Account>Two-step verification section, then you just need to create an access PIN.
Additionally, it is recommended that you enable the privacy feature by only allowing your contacts to view your profile photo.
You also have to be careful when someone asks you to transfer some funds. Confirm the identity of the person requesting the funds transfer.
